BETH Tweddle will be flying high on Sunday if she reaches the final of ITV’s Dancing on Ice.

The three-time gymnastic world champion, who is through to the semi final after her performance to Lady Gaga’s Born This Way last week, is practising flying for her latest challenge on the celebrity talent show.

Speaking to The Chronicle during training with partner Dan Whiston, she said: “All the contestants will be flying for one of their routines this week. My other routine has lots of steps, tricks and a bit of everything really, including solo skating.”

Tweddle found last week’s ‘prop’ challenge the hardest so far. Dressed in a typically bizarre Gaga-style outfit with a crazy white wig, she and Dan had to incorporate a hoop into their routine.

She said: “I was very nervous, especially as we only did the routine the whole way through for the first time the day before the show.

“If I’d dropped the hoop and tripped during the routine it could’ve been really dangerous, which added extra pressure.”

Beth, a former pupil of Chester’s Queen’s School, spent three hours in make-up before the show to create the unique look, which included bejewelled face decoration.

She said: “I really loved the look as I think it was so unexpected and it was completely different to any of the looks on the show so far.”

The Olympic medallist said she appreciates the support she is getting from the home crowd during her challenge to be crowned Dancing on Ice champion.

Parishioners at St Boniface Church and villagers, tweeting as @BunburyParish, wished her well before last week’s show.

She said: “It’s really nice to know that the local community are supporting me and I really appreciate it. I get lots of messages and tweets and I try my best to respond to them all.

“It’s brilliant to have got this far and I’m loving my time on the ice. We’re going to give it all we’ve got this weekend to try and get into the final!”
