WE ARE asking Chronicle readers to help us raise cash for nurses who will care for cancer patients in South Cheshire.

The Chronicle has joined forces with Macmillan Cancer Relief to launch an appeal for £500,000 to fund specialist nurses at Leighton Hospital in Crewe.

During the next few months we will be asking kind-hearted readers to get behind the Angels Appeal by starting fundraising events.

Appeal campaigns have proved a massive hit in the Chronicle in the past, helping to raise thousands of pounds for special-needs youngsters needing equipment or therapies to improve their lives.

Now we are asking you to support this very worthy cause.

With £500,000, Macmillan would be able to fund for three years:

A lead cancer nurse to improve cancer services for patients in the hospital and the community.

A chemotherapy co-ordinator, who will help patients get over the hurdle of treatment provided in different areas of the hospital.

An intestinal clinics nurse, who will support the two specialist surgeons and the patients throughout their journey through treatment.

A palliative care nurse specialist, working across South and Mid Cheshire visiting patients in homes.
