A BEESTON teenager is on her way to singing stardom after beating hundreds of talented hopefuls for a place in the regional finals of a national singing contest.

Rachel Fearnall, a student at Tarporley High School, has dreamed of being a singer ever since she can remember, so when she heard about Teen Star, a new singing competition aimed specifically for teenage singers and groups, she jumped at the chance to enter.

The 15-year-old, who has previously performed on Dee 106.3’s Dee’s Got Talent and is a keen piano player, impressed judges at her audition singing Beyonce’s power ballad Listen, securing herself a place in the Teen Star regional finals at Liverpool’s Liner Hotel on March 24.

The show is open to all members of the public who can go along and show their support to the acts as they compete in front of guests from music companies and agencies for a prestigious place in the grand final to be in with a chance of being signed to a record label.

Rachel said: “I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember and it’s something I’ve always wanted to do, especially to big audiences.

“Singing has always been a dream of mine and I sing whenever I possibly can – in school concerts and in church.

“It would be great to have as much support as I can get at the regional final because the audience vote for their favourite act, so obviously the more support I can get the better!”

She added: “I like to sing powerful songs with big vocals so eventually I’d love to sing more soul music.”

Chris Grayston, events co-ordinator for TeenStar, said: “We’re looking to find an act that has something unique to offer, who can go all the way. There’s so much talent out there I’m sure we can find that star.”
