Pupils at Tarporley High School will find out today how they have fared in a BBC Radio 5 Live challenge to turn off their technology for a week-long digital detox.

The students pledged not to use social media or play computer games as part of an experiment on the Afternoon Edition programme and presenter Chris Warbuton will be at the school this afternoon, (Wednesday, March 9) to see how they got on.

The youngsters vowed to stay off Snapchat, Facebook and their favourite games while BBC Radio 5 live recorded the results and documented their experiences.

The experiment began last week (Wednesday, March 2) and BBC Radio 5 live and BBC News School Report asked pupils to record video diaries. The school also conducted a survey during the week about the young people’s experiences.

Chris Warburton was also at the school on Monday, March 7 to see how students were getting on.

The pupils’ media stardom included a feature on BBC North West Tonight at the launch of the project.

Assistant headteacher Ffion Eaton said “So far this experiment has given us all an exciting opportunity to reflect on the role that technology plays in our lives. The students have enjoyed all the filming and recording immensely and we are looking forward to another brilliant day as the experiment draws to a close.”

Tarporley High School will be on the Afternoon Edition programme at 1pm this afternoon (Wednesday, March 9).
