A CHESTER family have left their rented home and been banned from several areas of the city after being evicted.

The Harvey family were ordered to move out by Chester and District Housing Trust (CDHT) after a drawn-out battle before the courts.

The association recovered possession of the property, on Brentwood Road, Blacon on January 13 and each member of the Harvey family is now banned from the area under the terms of ASBOs handed out at Chester Crown Court on November 13 last year.

As well as being banned from entering Blacon, the ASBOs also prevent any member of the family – parents Josie, 50, and Granville, 60 as well as sons Granville Junior, 30, Shamus, 24 and Liam, 21 – from entering the Handbridge area of Chester until 2013.

In addition, Granville Jnr, Shamus and Liam are each banned from Lache and Newton until 2013.

Liam is currently serving a three-year sentence for possession of class A drugs with intent to supply, imposed by Chester Crown Court on May 2, 2008.

A spokesman for CDHT said: “Any decision to apply for an eviction is taken as a very last resort.

“Unfortunately, the actions taken by the Harvey family, in the face of repeated warnings including incidents of violence, threats of violence, and threatening and abusive language, left CDHT with no other option in this case.

“The Trust believes that the community will be relieved to see the Harvey family moving away from the Blacon area and hopes that the actions taken will help the community gain renewed confidence in the absence of the serious anti social behaviour that prevailed whilst they were in residence”
