THREE pirouetting siblings are set to make their mark on the world of professional ballet dancing when they perform with the English Youth Ballet this weekend.

Philip May, 18, and his younger sisters, Lily, 10, and Poppy, eight, were chosen from hundreds of other dancers to take part in a production of Coppelia at the Charter Theatre, Preston.

All three dancers from Moore train at the Miss Sutcliffe Academy of Dance, with Lily and Poppy attending Dares-bury Primary School.

Bridget Hearne, from the English Youth Ballet, said: 'Poppy May charmed the judges with her talent at such a young age to receive a part scholarship.'

The young cast of 118 eight to 18-year-olds has been working with professional ballet dancers from London.

Bridget added: 'It's hard work during the preparation stage, but these youngsters are also making new friends and are enjoying the social interaction of their six hour rehearsals.'

Coppelia will be performed at the Charter Theatre, Preston, on Friday at 7.30pm and on Saturday at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. For tickets, call 01772 258858.
