THE Chronicle’s 2007 Baby of the Year, Alfie George Welsh, has been enjoying his moment in the spotlight.

One-year-old Alfie emerged victorious after we received hundreds of text and phone votes from readers supporting their favourite youngster in the competition, sponsored by The Mall Chester.

Parents Chris and Emma, of Whitby, took Alfie along to the city precinct yesterday to receive their prize of a fabulous professional photograph produced as a 16in by 12in high-quality canvas Giclee print – recognised by the Fine Art Guild – which has the appearance of an oil painting and is worth at least £100.

The family also received a £300 gift card voucher to spend at The Mall Chester.

The two runners-up – Cory Archie Conde, six months, of Blacon, Chester, and Colby Reid, 14 months, of Blacon, Chester – also went along to collect their prizes.

They also received a professional photograph produced as a 12in by 8in high-quality canvas Giclee print, worth £50, plus a £100 gift card voucher to spend at The Mall Chester.

Julie Williams, marketing manager at The Mall Chester, said: ‘We were delighted to once again sponsor the Baby of the Year competition.”
