THE achievements of women living in Cheshire’s rural areas were celebrated at an annual awards ceremony.

To coincide with World Rural Women’s Day, the sixth Cheshire Rural Women’s Awards were presented at an event at Byley Village Hall on October 14.

Guest speaker at the event, which was attended by Lord Mayor of Chester Cllr Brian Bailey, was author Patricia Warren, who is best known for setting up the Rural Dating Agency.

The Cheshire Rural Women’s Awards are a partnership of private, public and voluntary sector organisations led by Cheshire County Council.

Gaynor Bowen-Jones, Cheshire County Council’s Rural Development Officer said: “This event has gone from strength to strength and continues to bring many Cheshire organisations together to pay tribute to women who are making a real difference in our rural communities.”

The event is supported by North Cheshire Training and Howard Worth.
