A HIGH school took the hassle out of Year 9 options by organising a celebration evening.

The event took place at Blacon High.

Students and parents had the chance to discuss GCSE options for September 2008 and gain information on the courses available.

Connexions was also on hand with advice.

Staff and students then met in the school hall for an overview of the options and celebration of success so far this academic year.

Awards were given out following speeches by Year 9 learning manager Vicky Chase and year head boy and head girl Joe Lambe and Shannon Dixon.

The evening closed with a short speech by headteacher Ella Brett.

“In view of the positive changes taking place at Blacon High, the occasion aimed to encourage all Year 9 students to strive for success and seek to realise their ambitions,’ said a spokesman.
