TWO of the region's biggest tourist attractions will be opening for free as part of Britain's biggest voluntary event.
Both Halton Castle and Norton Priory will be opening for free on September 10 and 11, along with hundreds of other European Heritage properties to help promote Europe's culture and architecture.
Other buildings opening their doors to the public across the UK, either for free or for the first time, range from castles to factories, town halls to tithe barns and parish churches to Buddhist temples.
The free tours to Halton Castle, in Halton Village, will take place between 12 and 3pm both days.
There will also be free entry to Norton Priory,Runcorn - recent winner of the 2005 Cheshire and Warrington Tourism Board award and celebrating it's 30th anniversary this year - instead of the usual £4.50 ticket price. * To book tickets for either Halton Castle or Norton Priory contact 01928 569895.
