POLICE are renewing an appeal for witnesses after a teenager was assaulted on a Winsford street.

A 15-year-old boy's jaw was broken as he was beaten up by youths near to the Golden Lion pub on the old High Street at 7.30pm on Friday, March 3.

Detectives are appealing for key witnesses to come forward. They say the teenager was involved in an argument with a group of youths, who he knew, before he was attacked.

A police spokesman said: 'The teenager was assaulted by one or more offenders who were known to the victim. He suffered blows to the face resulting in a broken jaw. He received treatment at Leighton Hospital and later at the Countess of Chester.

'Police believe a number of people were in the area outside the pub that have not come forward to the police and we need them to provide information.' nAnyone with information can contact Det Con Brendan Crilley on 01244 616119.
