ACTORS from Ashton Hayes are returning to the stage in Tarvin for the first time in 25 years with a spellbinding performance.

Ashton’s Theatre Club is putting on an adaptation of award-winning author Terry Pratchett’s Wyrd Sisters at Tarvin Community Centre this month.

The group had been restricted to performing at Ashton’s smaller village hall as the stage at Tarvin had been condemned.

But now thanks to a revamp organised and supported by Alan Wilkinson and the community centre committee, the club have returned to Tarvin with four shows based on Pratchett’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth.

A mixed cast of young and old take to the stage later this month with actors and directors coming from neighbouring communities and Helsby High School.

Directors Yvette Owen and Stephanie Lemmy are hoping residents across Tarvin, Ashton and the surrounding Chester area will support theatre in the countryside so that future productions can continue to take place.

Yvette said: “We promise you’ll laugh, you’ll cry and you might even be a little bit frightened.

“If this sounds like something that could be right up your street and you would like to do something a bit more interesting than watching Eastenders then please come along and show you support.

“With the move to Tarvin we are hoping that lots of old Tarvin Theatre Members will come out of the woodwork and join us. We are always on the look out for actors and directors as well as general members who just want to be part of something special.

“We want local people to support the production because it will help show that successful drama can be put on in Tarvin.

“Since the stage and lighting was condemned there has not been any theatre in Tarvin for years but now it has been repaired and made safe.

“We are hoping that perhaps Ashton and Tarvin Theatre Clubs can link up in the future.”

Performances take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, November 12, 13 & 14 at 7pm. There will also be an earlier show on Saturday at 3.15pm. For tickets (adults £7, children £5) contact Stephanie Lemmy on 01829 752394 or Yvette Owen on 01829 751327.
