DESPITE mixed weather, the annual Hey Day at Ashton Hayes Primary School proved to be a big hit.

The event, organised by the school’s PTFA, included a mix of stalls, games, face painting, crafts, maypole dancing, refreshments and much more.

Year 6 pupils also successfully devised and ran their own stalls.

Chester FC’s Junior Blues team, including the mascot Big Lupus, were one of many attractions which also included local Olympic torchbearer Alex Staniforth, A-Star Sports, Janis Anderson School of Dance and Helsby High School Band.

A raffle was held for a range of great prizes donated by families and businesses.

Headteacher Chris Priddey said: “It was a very successful day which raised a considerable amount of money to help fund additional resources that will enhance our children’s learning and play in school.”

Ashton Hayes PTFA is currently fundraising to help equip and enhance the new outdoor space.
