TV celebrity Loyd Grossman has acclaimed Runcorn's new arts centre.

Speaking at the North West Regional Conference - the first major event to be held at the Brindley - the former presenter of Masterchef and Through The Keyhole said the centre was 'beautiful'.

Mr Grossman, chairman of Culture Northwest, said: 'The Brindley is absolutely a world-class, first-rate beautiful building which will change the social landscape of this area.'

Mr Grossman also paid tribute to Norton Priory Museum and Gardens and the Catalyst as he appealed for residents to vote for their favourite part of the borough.

Now he wants Weekly News readers to spotlight what tourists should visit.

He said: 'The North West has a growing international reputation for being culturally rich and diverse, with a growing list of world-class attractions.

'But what we really want to know is what the people of Halton think visitors should visit. It may be something that you feel particularly proud of, or something that does not get the re-cognition it deserves.

'By putting this to the people of Runcorn, we hope to spotlight the attractions that the community really love, while seeking out and highlighting some new and exciting destinations.'
