ORGANISERS have released an artist’s impression showing how the famous Roodee will be transformed for next month’s Chester Rocks music festival.
A crowd of 15,000 is expected to flood the venue for the festival on Saturday, July 2 and Sunday, July 3, making the new outdoor event one of the North West’s biggest.
The city’s historic walls will form the backdrop for a huge stage and lighting rig, with large screens on either side to ensure no-one misses out on the shows.
Festival-goers will be treated to two full days of performances from national and international stars of pop, rock, indie and dance, alongside a range of delicious food, trade stands and performers.
Saturday’s spectacular boasts a star-studded pop line-up, including The Wanted, McFly, The Saturdays and Taio Cruz. Another 10 bands will perform on the Dawsons’ Alternative Stage, headlined by Chester all-girl group Indigo City.
The host of free family activities will include bouncy castles, face painting, high wire climbing, a funfair, magicians, buskers and performers.
Sunday will see the Roodee rocked by Iggy and the Stooges, Feeder, Australian Pink Floyd, Leftfield and many more, as well as 11 of the best local acts on the Dawsons’ Alternative Stage.
To celebrate the first year of this brand new event, the Chester Race Company is offering a free races ticket to anyone who has already bought their Chester Rocks ticket or buys before June 24.
Those buying tickets for Saturday’s show can claim free Open Course tickets to the Family Funday on Sunday, July 31, while anyone buying Sunday tickets will receive a free Dee Stand ticket for Saturday, August 20.
Head of marketing and communications Rob March said: “We think this is a great way to reward people who are supporting the first year of the event and what better way to say thank you than a free day at the races.”
Single day tickets are £47.50 and weekend tickets £85. Families of four can also benefit from a Special Family Offer, making a saving of £50 on either day of the festival.
