WIDNES artist B Frances Topping is staging an exhibition of paintings at Widnes Library.

The exhibition comprises 37 paintings and drawings, a mix of landscapes and work based around the theme of rugby league.

Some of the pieces will be familiar to regulars at the Appleton Arms, which has been displaying some of her work since early February.

Mrs Topping said: 'I have been painting since I left school. I can tackle any subject and I am trying to develop my own style to give the work my own personal edge.

'When I go to places, I take my easel with me and I take a lot of photographs and recreate them in my work.

'Art is very relaxing and it's a lovely thing to do.

'I think this exhibition will have something for everyone to enjoy.'

The exhibition runs until March 29.
