AFFORDABLE artworks by a commissioned designer and painter will go on sale at a Frodsham studio.

Contemporary paintings by trained designer and artist Lizzie Orchison, 38, of Main Street, Frodsham, will be for sale when she opens the doors of her studio as part of the Cheshire Open Studios Weekend.

The former Frodsham High School pupil said: “I paint contemporary art which is illustrative as well as abstract. I take my inspiration from the written word, poetry and prose, sometimes I use just one word.

“A lot of my work is based around love but it’s not arty or deep and meaningful.

“My work is quite unusual but it definitely has an identity. I think you can tell it is my work. It’s not removed from the mainstream.”

Lizzie received a first class degree in design and textiles from Liverpool University and then completed a masters at Manchester Met. Her work can be seen in Malmaison Hotels across the county at galleries in Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester and London.

She added: “My art is an investment for the future, it’s not going to lose its value. Buying art directly from the artists means it is cheaper too because you don’t have to pay gallery fees on top.”

Lizzie’s studio will be open on Saturday, December 6, and Sunday, December 7, from 11am-4pm and prices range from £40 to £400.
