Students at Glyndwr University’s North Wales School of Art and Design are gearing up for their Final Year Art Show which attracts talent scouts from the art industry.

The show is always a highlight in the Glyndwr University calendar and this year promises to be no exception with examples of outstanding work being shown by the students.

The show opens to the public on Monday 1 June 2009 and continues until Friday 26 June 2009.

Sion Hughes, Head of the School of Art & Design, is really looking forward to the opening. He said: "Amongst those exhibiting will be a number of students who have won very prestigious awards. The standard of the work is exceptional and it will be fantastic to see so much of it on display."

Work will be shown by students that have been studying a variety of Art Undergraduate and Postgraduate Degrees at the School of Art and Design, specialising in the applied arts, fine art and design subjects.

The show will be packed with an exciting range of work including painting and drawing, printmaking, sculpture, glass, jewellery, video and installation. All students are encouraged to learn about their professional environment, from self-employment and self-promotion to taxation and selling their work through exhibitions.

"By the time they leave here students know what it means to be a professional artist," says John McClenaghen, Subject Leader in Fine Art. "We believe it’s important to equip our students with the skills they need to make their way in a competitive world."
