A TEXTILE artist has set up home at St Thomas of Canterbury Church in Chester.

Wendy Rudd’s installation Dwelling Space will be at the church in Parkgate Road until Saturday.

Designed for St Cuthbert’s Centre on the island of Lindisfarne, the wigwam-style retreat offers visitors a quiet, reflective space.

Dwelling Space is a village of conical shelters made of cane, string and paper which together form a large installation.

Wendy developed the idea of simple tent-like structures to celebrate and capture the ‘sacrament of the present moment’.

On the floor of each shelter is one line from a poem by former Cheshire Poet Laureate Andrew Rudd.
