ARMED robbers made off with £20,000 from Frodsham Post Office in Main Street this morning (Monday, August 9).

Two men entered the property and confronted the sub postmistress at around 8.15am.

DC Gary Morris, of Northwich/Chester CID said police officers were quickly on the scene after she raised the alarm.

He said: “Two males have approached her, one of them carrying a handgun. They demanded she opened the safe and took £20,000 in notes and made off. She was unhurt but badly shocked but she did not go to hospital.”

It is understood the robbers were not captured on the post office CCTV and police are unsure of exactly how they made their escape.

“We are studying CCTV footage from other premises in the area and are looking for anything that might help us out,” said DC Morris.
