IT'S week two of our fabulous Ring to Win competition which gives you the chance to brighten up your autumn by winning £1,000.

Last week we launched Ring to Win, which will see us handing over £1,000 in cash to one of our lucky readers every week for four weeks.

Whether you are looking to take the children away for half term or could do with making an early start on the Christmas shopping, a cash boost of £1,000 is certain to make anybody's day.

Speed is of the essence. Phone lines open at 9am today until midnight on Monday. You will also be able to text your answer.

On Tuesday, we will be contacting the winner to arrange for £1,000 to be handed to them in cash. At the same time, we will take their photograph at the presentation which will appear in that week's edition of The Chronicle when the whole process will begin again.

Each week for a total of four weeks, there will be a top prize winner of £1,000. But in week four, there will be even more chances to win because we will also be giving away £250 to four runners-up.

So that's a total of £5,000 we will be giving away in cash over the course of a month!

For each of those weeks, we will be printing a simple question in The Chronicle and providing three possible answers. We will also be printing a special phone number and all you have to do is ring that number and correctly answer the question to be in with a chance of winning the cash.

You won't have to wait long to find out if you have won because we will be ringing you on Tuesday morning to let you know.

A condition of entry is that you must be contactable on that day and available to be photographed on Tuesday or Wednesday.

First of all, you have to answer the following question:

Which river flows through Chester and Flintshire?

a) The Thames

b) The Dee

c) The Severn

Then you can decide on one of two methods for letting us know your answer:

By phone: by ringing 0906 616 0507.

By text: Callers to text CCWIN followed by space then your answer a, b or c to 86100.

Calls cost 60p a minute at all times and will last less than a minute although calls from mobile phones may vary.

Usual competition rules apply. The competition is not open to Trinity Mirror employees and their families.

Janet scoops our first jackpot
MUM of three Janet Barnes is the first lucky Chronicle reader to pick up £1,000 in cash after winning our Ring to Win competition.

And you could follow in her footsteps by taking part in week two of this fabulous contest which could see you grabbing a grand by the middle of next week.

Janet, who lives in Utkinton and works as an office administrator at Blakemere Craft Centre in Sandiway, is mum to Joanne, 31, Amy, 25 and Thomas, 20.

She says she couldn't believe it when she got the call on Tuesday morning from The Chronicle to let her know she had been successful in Ring to Win.

'It was unbelievable. I have never won anything before,' she said.

'I always sit down to read The Chronicle every Friday and last week, I spotted the competition question and thought `I know that!'.

'I happened to have my mobile phone next to me so I rang with the answer but never thought anything more about it until I got the call on Tuesday. But even then I didn't believe it until I came in to pick up the money and have my photograph taken.'

Needless to say, Janet has already had a few suggestions from her family as to what she might like to do with her windfall, especially from husband Roger who works as a chauffeur with Abbey Chauffeur Hire in Chester.

'He thinks I ought to take out shares in Manchester United to try to stop the takeover bid!' she explained. 'I don't think I'll be taking his advice although I might treat him to a few shares for Christmas.'
