A WOMAN is appealing against her conviction for murdering a friend.

Kathy Lillian Williams, 32, was sentenced to 24 years behind bars for her part in the brutal killing of Lorraine Jones in a flat in Ellesmere Port.

Her co-accused Christopher Robert Reed, 41, was jailed for life for the June 2005 killing, with a recommendation he serve at least 30 years.

The pair, who lived in Westminster Road, had both denied murder, although Reed had admitted perverting the course of justice.

Earlier this month, the Pioneer revealed that Reed, who is presently serving his time in Altcourse Prison in Fazackerley, is appealing against his conviction and sentence.

And now it has been officially confirmed that Williams, who is currently in Peterborough Prison, is also appealing against her conviction and sentence.

A spokesman for the Court of Appeal in London said: 'Reed and Williams' case is linked, so their appeals will be heard together.

'But there is no date set down for the appeal hearing yet.'

The couple's three-week trial at Mold Crown Court last September and October heard how Miss Jones, who had been staying with them in the Port, was beaten, stabbed, stamped on and strangled before her body was loaded into a car and dumped on the road to Bala in North Wales.
