Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision on the A533 Davenham bypass in Winsford yesterday afternoon (Monday, December 15).

An 18-year-old local man was airlifted to North Staffordshire University Hospital after the Volkswagen Polo he was driving collided with a Scania articulated goods vehicle between Road One and Jack Lane at around 2.45pm.

He remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the goods vehicle, a 60-year-old man from Liverpool, did not require hospital treatment.

The road was reopened at 6.30pm following collision investigation work.

Anyone with any information in relation to the collision is asked to contact Cheshire police on 101, quoting incident number 514 of December 15, 2014.
