CHESHIRE West and Chester Council is looking to recruit long-term foster carers to provide permanent homes for vulnerable local children.

These carers ensure that children, who are unable to live with their own families, have the stability and security that is so crucial to their wellbeing.

Over the last few years the council has successfully recruited foster carers to provide temporary and short term foster care. However, there is still a need for people able to look after children until they reach adulthood – known as long-term foster care.

On November 28, the council is staging a special event in Winsford where people can find out more about becoming long-term foster carers.

It’s a challenging role that takes real commitment, but the rewards can be immense. Plus, the council provides support and training as well as allowances to cover the costs of caring for a child and fees to reflect the carers’ skills and experience.

Cllr Mark Stocks, executive member for children and young people’s services, said: “It’s so important that vulnerable local children in Cheshire West and Chester are given the care that best suits their needs. “For some that means being part of a foster family until adulthood.”
