POLICE are seeking witnesses after a cyclist came off his bike in a collision and was then run over.

The 49-year-old sustained a fractured leg after being struck by a 4x4 vehicle at 6.30pm on Saturday.

He was riding along Burton Road from the direction of Ness Gardens, heading towards Neston town centre, when he was in the collision near the Wheatsheaf pub.

Cheshire police spokesman Mark Houghton said: 'We appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to call Detective Sergeant Nigel Parr at Ellesmere Port & Neston CID on 01244 613150 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.' nClaire Helen Patterson, 38, from St Asaph, appeared before Chester, Ellesmere Port & Neston magistrates on Monday afternoon charged with assault, dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, no insurance and theft.

She was bailed to appear at the same court on May 2.
