THE winner of Cheshire School Chef of the Year competition is Anita Wineyard from Eccleston Primary School.
Her winning recipe was salmon risotto with batons of carrots and florets of broccoli and dessert was ginger, chocolate and orange cheesecake.
Anita, who has worked at the school for 12 years, said: 'I was honoured to be asked to take part in the first place - it made my day.
'To get some practice I tried the recipes out on the pupils and they enjoyed the food.
'I am excited and obviously delighted to have won the heat and I am looking forward to the North West final.'
County Council chairman Neville Price handed Anita a trophy, shield and flowers.
Cllr Price said: 'Eight chefs took part and as expected the standard of all the dishes was extremely high.
'The food was excellent and it was extremely difficult to choose a winner.'
The North West competition includes chefs from across the area and takes place in Knowsley on a date to be fixed early next year.
Headteacher Adam Johnson added: 'Anita's triumph came as no surprise to any of us because her cooking is fantastic.'
