A MUM of two young boys is furious after an application to send them to the same school was rejected.

Amanda Riccio, of Red Lion Lane, Little Sutton, sends her eight-year-old son Dominic to Childer Thornton Primary School.

But an application and an appeal to send four-year-old James to the same school was turned down – separating the siblings and leaving Amanda, who walks to school, with the impossible task of getting both children to school on time.

She said: “The whole system is ridiculous. When Dominic applied, you dealt with the school directly, but now the application process has changed.

“We live just two houses out of the catchment area and I know of at least one person who lives further away, whose children don’t have siblings at the school, who has been offered a place.

“It’s just not fair – I have no choice now but to take it further and appeal to the ombudsman.”

A spokesman for Cheshire West and Chester council said: “An independent panel came to a decision on the basis of information provided by the parents and the authority and the panel’s decision is binding on the authority, the parents and the school.”
