Airbus apprenticeship applicants from across the UK recently sat their first round of selection tests at Deeside College.

After receiving applications for apprenticeships at Airbus in Broughton and Filton (near Bristol), 300 applicants were chosen to sit assessments in Deeside College’s Centre of Engineering Excellence. These assessments are the first stage of recruitment for Airbus in the UK’s 2010/11 intake of apprentices, and consisted of tests on literacy, numeracy and basic engineering principles.

Nick Tyson, Head of Faculty for Engineering and the Built Environment at Deeside College, who was involved in the organisation of this event, said, "To see this many enthusiastic applicants attend the initial stages of the Airbus recruitment for Modern Apprentices at the ‘Deeside College Centre of Engineering Excellence' was a fantastic experience.  It is testament that Aerospace Engineering is captivating the imagination of our young people".

Once chosen, the Airbus apprentices will start their first year apprenticeship, full-time at Deeside College, in September 2010.
