A CHARITY chain store which has two shops in Chester is calling on residents to donate their unwanted Christmas presents.

Age UK, which has a store on Watergate Street in the city centre and another on The Parade in Blacon, is seeking donations such as woolly jumpers, glass vases or unwanted toiletries so older people can benefit.

Open 362 days a year, Age UK’s staff and volunteers will accept all kinds of donations including women’s, men’s and children’s fashion; homewares; electrical items (in selected stores); books; games and accessories.

Collections can also be arranged in some areas.

A spokeswoman for the Age UK shop in Blacon said: “By donating unwanted Christmas gifts to our shop, people will be helping a great cause.

“The money raised through Age UK’s shops goes to supporting the charity’s vital work for older people, so we are urging everyone in the area to de-clutter their homes and make a real difference to an older person. We need quality stock and if you don’t want it, we’ll take it.”

Money raised by Age UK’s shops will help hands-on local services such as lunch clubs and home safety checks and national work such as its free advice line and vital campaigning work.
