Four drama students from a Chester theatre company are taking part in an international theatre festival this week.

Tessa Jones, Olivia McNee and Kirsty  Ritchie, all 15, and Jenny Dewhirst, 16 are in  Porthleven in Cornwall for the International  Youth Theatre Festival (PIYTF) 2013, run by the International Student Theatre Association (ISTA).

All four are members of Jigsaw Music Theatre Company, the youth arm of Theatre  in the Quarter.  Former Jigsaw student  Jessyca Baker and drama teacher Millie  Garrett are also attending the festival.

Artistic director Matt Baker said:  “The  ethos of creative theatre-making at ISTA is  closely aligned to the exciting way in which  our Chester students work and so these  course offer a broadening of the experiences  for these young people and an opportunity to  work with artists and peers from across the  UK and beyond.”

The young actors join students from China,  Belgium, Korea Azerbaijan, Cornwall,  Northamptonshire and Scotland for  four-days of intensive workshops.

Titled The Fisher and The Fish, the festival  takes place in a marquee on the Harbour  Head in Porthleven and it is the fourth year  that students from Jigsaw  have attended.

It is supported by His Royal Highness, The  Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall.
