FORMER soap star Chris Bisson gave a local farm shop a boost as he shopped for a celebrity TV show.

The actor, who most famously played Vikram Desai in Coronation Street, bought items from The Hollies Farm Shop in Little Budworth to use on Celebrity Britain’s Best Dish.

Bisson will be featured buying local products from the Forest Road business to use on the show which will be screened in October.

While being filmed, the East is East star explained why he had chosen to shop in the heart of Cheshire for his vegetables and fresh pasta.

He said: “The Hollies is all about local produce, which makes a massive difference when you’re cooking. The carrots still have dirt on them so you know they are straight from the ground, and the produce here is all from high quality suppliers.

“It’s important if you can shop using local producers and suppliers then you do it. The quality is much better and there are not loads of food miles involved so you’re not paying as much.”

Bisson will be using the produce to make a traditional Sunday roast and a macaroni pie.

Staff at the award-winning shop were delighted to be filmed for the show.

Hollies director Ed Cowap said: “It was fantastic to have Chris filming in the shop.

“He lives locally and he has been here before so he knew about us and he asked ITV to come and film while he chose his products for the show.”
