CHILDREN at Acresfield Primary School in Upton helped organise a successful summer fair last weekend.

The pupils, aged 4-11, had a barbecue, bouncy castle, and tried their luck at beating the goalie to celebrate another school year.

Friends of Acresfield Primary organised the event last Saturday, ably assisted by the school council and the Year 6s who ran their own stalls.

The school council put together 14 hampers, including a ‘pamper hamper’ for girls and boys and a beach-party themed hamper.

These were auctioned to raise money for the development of the outdoor area at the school.

There is already a seating area, a woodland trail and picnic tables.

Headteacher Mike Dixon praised the efforts of the staff, parents and pupils for the success of the fayre.

He said: “It was a real community event with the parents and children all getting involved to help. There was a great atmosphere, and it didn’t rain.

“We will now go back to the school council – they always get involved in how the money is spent.”
