YOUNGSTERS at Acresfield Community Primary School, Upton, have applied their creative touch to an upcoming Chester FC programme.

More than a dozen Year 6 pupils clubbed together to create a striking design for the football team’s programme cover.

The programmes will be used for the club’s home game against Nantwich Town on January 2.

Carol Bennett, Chester FC volunteer learning co-ordinator, explained how the initiative came about.

She said: “Their school has a headteacher who is very pro-active and the school is keen on sport.

“They jumped at the chance to do something like this and 13 children got involved with the programme cover.

“They are all going to the Nantwich game on January 2 and will be given a tour of the stadium as well.”

Carol added the club was keen to expand the scheme, which earlier this year saw Blacon High School get on board.

“We are hoping to have a competition at the end of the year, where we can get a player from the club to visit the school with the best programme from the season and give a special presentation on health and lifestyle to the kids.”
