Students from Ellesmere Port Catholic High are celebrating personal successes as their A-level results helped them secure the university courses and destinations of their choice.

The group of students which the school says ‘have made an excellent contribution to our school community over the past seven years’ will spread far and wide across the country, from Kings College in London to Newcastle University to name just two, as they prepare to follow courses in higher education.

Overall, sixth form successes saw 43% of entries achieve A* - B, 66% of students achieving grade B or higher and 73% gaining their first choice university.

The strongest results achieved overall were those of Lucy Linford who achieved A* grades in English Literature and History and a B grade in English Language.

She will take up a place at Falmouth University to study creative writing.

Amongst other fine performances were Mia Dickinson who achieved two A grades and a B securing a place at Manchester University to study philosophy.

Abigail Donaghue secured the same set of results with a B grade in Drama and an A grade in both English Language and English Literature.

She will begin her course at the University of Central Lancashire studying journalism.

The school is also celebrating the students who have been successful in securing different pathways for their futures.

These include George Sherriff who has a place within the TTE pre- apprenticeship programme and Ruth Roberts who is going to serve in the Royal Navy.

Caroline Vile, the new headteacher at the Catholic High, said: “I am delighted that 43% of the grades awarded were A*-B and 66% of students achieved at least one B grade or higher.

“These students have been excellent ambassadors for our sixth form. Their achievements are the foundation for further success as our exciting sixth form redevelopment plans come to fruition under the leadership of Miss Holland.”
