SHOWERS failed to dampen the day's events at a village show.

V isitors to the Cyffylliog Show enjoyed the dog and horse events as well as browsing the many fine specimens of plants, flowers, vegetables, cookery and painting competition pieces on Saturday.

The weather was not great but organisers said that didn't seem to bother anybody and people still enjoyed the sights and sounds.

Maureen Shakesby, show secretary said: "It was a very successful day,the entries were all very well supported, the horse classes were good and all in all everything seemed to go very well."

The show was officially opened at 11am by this year's president, Anne Evans, and events during the day included a display by the Clwyd Gun Dogs and a horse parade at 3pm.

Members of the Ruthin Young Farmers took part in a welly-throwing competition and were also on hand to carry out face-painting duties for the children.

The main marquee was awash with colour thanks to the bright pictures and potato prints in the children's competitions, and there were also cookery classes and floral displays in abundance.
