A CREWE motorcyclist has died in a road crash in Chester.
Motorcycle rider Mark Joseph George, 25, of Frances Street, was involved in a collision with a blue Ford Escort car on the A51 Vicars Cross Road, just after 8.30am on Friday.
He was riding a black Honda 125cc machine, which displayed an L-plate, and died as a result of his injuries.
A rapid response vehicle was sent by Merseyside Regional Ambulance and Mr George was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital but paramedics and medical staff were unable to revive him
The driver of the Ford Escort, a 49-year-old man local to the Chester area, was arrested following the incident and has since been released on police bail until January 30.
The entire road was closed between Bill Smith Motors on the junction of Christleton Road and Vicars Cross Road and the Ring Road. Police cordons were removed at 11.30am on Friday.
Police spokesman Anna Galloway said: 'We are now appealing for witnesses, or anyone who may have seen the motorcyclist riding through Littleton or Vicars Cross before the collision.'
