Bus services between Chester and Whitchurch are offering a summer bonus for young people living in villages along the A41 corridor.

Anyone aged between 13 and 21 can travel anywhere on the 41 and 41A services all day and every day for £2 until August 31.

This initiative, promoted by Cheshire West and Chester Council , is aimed at introducing teenagers and young people living in rural areas to the bus, and fill otherwise empty seats during the summer holidays.

The ‘41’ provides an important and strategic link from the southern villages in the borough to Chester and Whitchurch.

The ‘Teen to Town’ promotion gives young people the opportunity to try the service and discover that although living in a rural area, they can get out for the day independently of the family car.

So far the promotion is popular with an increasing number of tickets being sold day by day.

Malpas councillor Ann Wright said: “This is a really good offer and I hope that young people take advantage of it over the summer holidays and we get more people using the A41 service to Chester and Whitchurch.”

John Cherry of Aintree Coachline, which has recently invested in modern vehicles for the route, said: “We are pleased to be working with Cheshire West and Chester Council on this initiative and if successful this summer, we plan to extend the offer every Saturday up until Christmas”.
