Castle Galleries in Chester will present the worldwide exclusive premiere of The Drawn Blank Series 2014 by world-renowned artist Bob Dylan at The Chester Grosvenor Hotel.
Cultural Icon: The Art of Bob Dylan, will be held at the hotel in Chester from 7.30pm on Thursday, November 6.
This exhibition will be the world exclusive unveiling of the work, shown alongside an extensive collection of other rare graphics and associated pieces from The Drawn Blank Series. Chris Hockenhull, a well-respected authority on all things Bob Dylan, will be in attendance to share his thoughts and insights into the artist.
A spokesman for the gallery said: “These paintings formed a collection entitled The Drawn Blank Series which commenced as a publishing programme of signed limited edition graphics in 2008, with subsequent releases every year to date. Exclusive to Washington Green and Castle Galleries, this collection generated huge worldwide interest leading to many of the pieces selling out immediately.
“Bob Dylan remains one of the most influential figures in the cultural landscape, a position he has inhabited since the 1960s. During the last fifty years he has released forty-six albums, written more than six hundred songs, sold in excess of 125 million records around the world and his music has been recognised and honoured with a plethora of awards.
“Although Bob Dylan is best known as a singer and songwriter, he is also renowned as a writer, film director, actor, radio broadcaster and artist. Drawn Blank, a collection of Bob Dylan’s drawings and sketches created while on a tour of America, Europe and Asia between 1989 and 1992, were first published in 1994. These drawings were re-worked into a series of paintings that were first shown at a museum exhibition in Germany in autumn 2007, and at Halcyon Gallery, London in the summer of 2008 to huge critical acclaim.”
