A young businessman from Frodsham has beaten off stiff competition to win an award.
KDE Ltd director Matthew Darlington, 24, was named the North West’s Young Business Development Professional of the Year at the Insider’s Young Professionals Awards 2016.
KDE, who provide electrical, fire alarm, plumbing and heating services, employ more than 50 people from their base near Frodsham.
Matthew said: “Winning this award is fantastic, I am especially pleased that the judges recognised my hard work and dedication to the business.
“To be chosen as the winner from all the other high profile applicants makes me feel very honoured.
“Winning this accolade will spur me onto even higher levels of achievement.”
The family-run installation firm was set up by Matthew’s father Keith Darlington, who now works as managing director, in 1989.
His youngest son has risen from apprentice to director since he joined the company back in 2008.
Keith said: “We are delighted Matthew has won such a hotly contested award.
“This award recognises the talent within our company and our commitment to exceed customer expectations. When the judges announced Matthew had won we were overjoyed.”
The Insider Media awards took place on April 21.
Editorial director Miri Thomas praised their award winners for ‘standing out from the crowd’.
