AN MEP dropped in on volunteers in Mold to see for himself the difference European Funding is making in Flintshire and Wrexham.

Welsh Labour MEP, Derek Vaughan, visited Y Corlan in Mold Business Park, which is run by Flintshire Local Voluntary Council (FLVC) and plays host to a number of other third sector organisations all under one roof.

He also took time out to see a local European Regional Development Fund sponsored project – Communities 2.0 - involving FLVC, its counterpart for the Wrexham area (AVOW), Wrexham and Flintshire County Councils and the Co-op Centre which encourages people to get on line, get organisations to upgrade their IT and also provides technical support to voluntary organisations.

Speaking after the visit, Mr Vaughan said: “There are a huge range of organisations that are providing vital important services, developing local people’s skills and confidence as well as contributing to improvements in the quality of life and economic fortunes of the area.

“EU Funding underpins many projects that are reaching out to communities in both Flintshire and Wrexham and I will continue to campaign in the European Parliament for North Wales to get its fair share of investment.”
