MORE than 20 hairdressing students from West Cheshire College enjoyed a invaluable insight into the workings of Regis Hair and Beauty when manager of the Chester branch, David Hurine, visited the Ellesmere Port campus.

Mr Hurine, recently a finalist at the Wella Trends Vision Finals in London, gave the students a talk about employment and professionalism.

As well as the talk, which was given to students on the Hairdressing BTEC Level 1 course, Mr Hurine also set a competition for students to submit their ideas for the ‘perfect visit to a hairdressing salon’, with a first prize of £150 of salon vouchers.

Mr Hurine said: “It was a pleasure to visit West Cheshire College and give advice to future hairdressers.

“I have taken on apprentices from the college in the past and know how well trained and dedicated they can be.

“The feedback I received was fantastic and all of the students produced great entries for the competition. The winning entry was of such a high standard that it was very close to our own salon guide.”

Curriculum leader for hairdressing and beauty therapy, Kerry Martinez, said: “ As an award-winning industry professional he was able to give them some great advice.”
