An ultra marathon runner has been awarded the first ‘Joggy Doggy’ franchise for an area that covers Chester and Ellesmere Port.

Joggy Doggy is a canine exercise business offering canicross classes, canine personal training and dog exercising from gentle strolls to fast-paced runs of up to five miles per session.

Canicross is the fast-growing dog sport of running whilst attached to a harnessed dog via a bungee line and belt.

The dog pulls into the chest and shoulders assisting the runner to run further and faster, while also getting a brilliant doggy workout.

Lisa Gittins’s business will be covering the Mold, Buckley, Chester and Ellesmere Port areas.

As Lisa explains, for many dogs an average walk is not enough and a mixed terrain run across fields and forests is a far better match for a dog’s natural level of energy.

Recent research has demonstrated that running dogs produce even more of the positive chemicals called endorphins than humans so really benefit from a bit of exertion.

After a run with Lisa, her four-legged clients are returned home happy, calm and relaxed and much less likely to pursue undesirable behaviour such as chewing furniture and excessive barking.

Lisa will run dogs in adventurous local areas such as Moel Famau and Loggerheads, Llandegla Forest, Alyn Waters and Wepre Park.

Jenny Lee, from Joggy Doggy’s head office in Kent, said Lisa’s 30 years experience of exploring the great outdoors and her passion for running with dogs makes her a perfect fit with Joggy Doggy.
