A Chester business has been listed among the wedding industry’s biggest movers and shakers at an awards ceremony.

Sweetheart Vintage, which will be exhibiting at the UK’s largest wedding show, The National Wedding Show, in Manchester in March, was shortlisted in the Best Bridal Accessories category at the Wedding Ideas Awards.

Owner Anna Hartshorn, from Chester, was invited to the ceremony in London after her customers highlighted her creative efforts to the judging panel.

The 35-year-old set up the company, based in White Friars, just two years ago and said she was ‘honoured’ to be up against well-known accessory brands, such as Flo & Percy and Glitzy Secrets.

Mum-of-two Anna said: “Because the business is so young, it was a huge honour to be nominated in a category alongside some of the biggest names in the bridal world.

“This award ceremony was particularly special because it was our customers who put us forward and thought we deserved to be recognised in this way.

“Although we didn’t win this time, it’s a great accolade to have even been among the final five and it’s given us a boost to aim high this year – and hopefully walk away with first place next time!”

Following a career as a bridal make-up artist, Anna launched Sweetheart Vintage to provide brides-to-be with vintage-inspired jewellery and hair pieces, as well as one-off bespoke items.

And she is now kicking off a busy year with an appearance at The National Wedding Show, which takes place at Manchester Central on March 15 and 16.

Anna added: “There have been a lot of vintage-inspired looks around recently, following the popularity of The Great Gatsby and Downtown Abbey, as well as Kate Middleton's wedding dress.

“Vintage continues to be a sought-after wedding theme in 2014, with Art Deco and lace making appearances on the bridal catwalk.

“We’re really looking forward to speaking to brides-to-be at The National Wedding Show and working with them to create their dream accessories.”
