BUSINESS students have been displaying their skills in the workplace, after securing placements with key local employers.

The West Cheshire College students, all studying the Level 3 BTEC National diploma in business at the college, have been strengthening their ties with a number of key local employers.

Ben McDowell, 19, from Malpas, recently completed a successful three-week work placement with Chester & District Housing Trust and has now been offered employment in its HR department after impressing staff with his work-based skills.

Ben said: “I’m delighted to have been offered this work after just a three-week placement.

“Working whilst studying has really enhanced the quality of my studies and assignments, as well as providing me with inspiration for my future career.”

Robin Wilson,18, from Ellesmere Port, undertook his work placement at West Cheshire College’s Property and Operations department where he examined health and safety issues.

He said: “Having my work placement at the College showed me a different side of West Cheshire College and the many elements that have to be taken into account when dealing with health and safety issues. It provided me with excellent experience of working in a real working environment.”

Other students completing successful work placements included Dale Shuttleworth, 18, from Ellesmere Port, who completed his placement at Airbus UK, Felicity Lowe, 18, from Puddington, who spent time with the Human Resources department at West Cheshire College and Burton Manor and Chris Bushell, 18, from Helsby, who experienced the working environment at Flintshire company, Nicepak International.
