STUDENTS at the University of Chester were able to meet and ask questions about the future of tourism in England at a guest lecture from one of the country’s leading experts.

James Berresford, chief executive of VisitEngland, spoke to final year students about the organisation’s forward plan, England: A Strategic Framework for Tourism 2010 – 2020 .

This sets out targets for English tourism and how they can be achieved through partnership between the public and private sector .

Colin Potts from Chester Business School headed Chester Tourism for nine years and is a former president of the Tourism Management Institute and chair of Britain’s Heritage Cities marketing consortium.

He said: "Mr Berresford’s agreement to explain to students how the strategy evolved and is now being implemented is a reflection on the growing reputation of the Business School."
