TWO Chester entrepreneurs have been named regional winners in a national contest which aims to find the country’s most promising new businesses.
The HSBC Start-Up Stars Awards gives newly established companies the chance to prove their entrepreneurial promise, with all contestants aiming for the top prize of £50,000.
Cheshire has produced two winners in the regional heat - Alastair Shortland of Littleton, owner of Txtlocal Ltd, and Alan Whitby of Kelsall, owner of Whitby Construction Systems.
Both companies are through to the final 60, and will go head to head to represent the West, Wales and Northern Ireland region in the National Finals, which will take place in London in October.
Txtlocal Ltd is the brainchild of Darren Daws and Alastair Shortland, from Littleton. In less than three years, the two men have changed the way companies and organisations communicate with their customers by revolutionising SMS text messaging.
