A CHESTER salon has been awarded a place in a highly regarded hairdressing competition – and is calling on a model to help it in its bid for success.

Saks Chester, based in Watergate Street, is to compete in the regional final of the L’Oréal Colour Trophy 2013 in Manchester on April 10.

The salon qualified by submitting a photograph demonstrating its technical expertise and fashion awareness on a model. The salon shook off competition from more than 1,000 other entries from across the UK.

Saks Chester will now require a catwalk-confident model to work on for the final as they attempt to complete its model look in just 45 minutes.

Hannah Walsh and Nicola Hughes form part of an excited salon team which joins 65 other salons from across the central region in a bid to secure a spot in the final, where it will meet qualifiers from six other regions.

The Manchester event will be hosted by Zoe Hardman, co-host of Take Me Out: The Gossip on ITV2.

Award-winning hairdresser and judge Trevor Sorbie MBE said: “It’s an amazing achievement to make it to this stage. The regional finals have an amazing atmosphere and it’s great to bring talented hairdressers from all over the region under roof.”

The winners of the grand final, held in London in June, will gain a ‘year of dreams’ – a mix of educational courses, creative overseas events, national media exposure and fashion shoots.
