A DAYCARE centre for dementia patients launched on Friday.

Stella Maris Social Enterprise launched Deja Vu Dementia Centre of Excellence in Little Sutton.

Complete with a lounge room with TV and music facilities, a multi-purpose room, an enclosed garden and a room for computer therapy, it will be an innovative community dementia daycare facility for the people of Ellesmere Port and the rest of the Cheshire West region.

Director Paul Growney says the aim is to improve the quality of life of people with dementia and their carers, with a programme devised around each individual’s care needs.

He said: “Our service has been championed for the fact that we offer a 24-hour, 365-day-per-year service aiming to provide the highest quality of respite care, with no other service in the region providing the night service.”

The centre gives carers the opportunity to have periods of respite at any time of day they choose. It is non-residential but holds sessions every day from 10am-4pm, 6.30-10.30pm and 11pm-7am.

The centre caters for up to 16 people at any one time and is in safe surroundings adjacent to the Health and Social Care Academy of Stella Maris Social Enterprise.
