Business Natalie Pierce-Jones is celebrating her fifth year making vegan cosmetics for customers all over the world.

The 27-year-old vegan from Chester operates successfully online with orders pouring in from across the world from as far away as Australia.

Natalie creates her Fairypants cosmetics at home including lip balm, skin balm, loose eye shadow and nail varnish.

None are tested on animals but on humans instead.

As well as cosmetics Natalie’s enterprise includes jewellery and hair accessories.

She started her business in July 2009 on a stall in Chester Market.

Natalie, who also has a full-time job as a charity fundraiser, said: “At first I was busy on the market but after two years it tailed off.

“I realised my sort of customers didn’t really use the market so I went online and business really picked up.

“I receive orders from all over the world and for some reason a lot from Australia –  there seems to be a real market for vegan  products over there.”

The cosmetics are also sold nationally by the charity Animal Aid as well as through Viva! magazine and Velveteen Me in Shrewsbury.

Natalie said not all her customers are vegans.

She said: “Being a vegan is a lifestyle choice.

“But you don’t have to be vegan to buy vegan cosmetics.

“I think a lot of my customers are not vegan but want to be sure what they’re putting on their skin has not been tested on animals and so are cruelty-free products.”

With birthday celebrations just around the corner, Natalie is poised to launch her latest range of bright neon nail varnish in time for the festival season.

She said: “I’m really looking forward to my next five years in business.”
