A Chester city centre shopping precinct has seen its bright idea come to light with a £5m development.

The Grosvenor Shopping Centre’s new Paddock Row has opened its doors to the public this week and new retailers TK Maxx and Sports Direct are beginning to fitting out their units.

The contemporary glass-fronted atrium and spacious square strike the balance between design innovation and practical retail space, and the centre says it will create a new focal point for shoppers.

Centre manager Julie Webb said: “The introduction of our new double-storey, glass façade allows plenty of natural light to flood into the centre, banishing thoughts of dull, artificially lit spaces and offering a seamless connection between the indoor shopping space and the vibrant city outside.

“We’re delighted with the cool and clean design which will allow our newest retailers to take centre stage, while also enhancing the indoor atmosphere and overall shopping experience for our visitors.”

TK Maxx and Sports Direct are on schedule to open their doors in June.
